The Gutter’s own Carol Borden has some thoughts on the Mexican/Polish psychological thriller, The Hole in the Fence / El hoyo en la cerca (2021). “With its presentation of the sons of privilege brutalizing each other in the woods, The Hole In The Fence will likely remind people of William Golding’s The Lord Of The Flies. But there is so much more to The Hole In The Fence than private school boys abusing each other when released from the constraints of society. It’s not the revelation of the “savage” in the civilized. What is revealed in these woods is a horror of civilization.”
