French Burkinabé writer/director Cédric Ido’s The Gravity is a lo fi science fiction thriller—with perhaps a dash of urban folk horror—that uses gravity in both a literal and metaphorical sense. In the opening, two boys fall from the top of a tower trying to escape the gravity of a banlieue outside Paris in the opening. The film follows the survivors are reunited in the neighborhood where the tragedy happened. The men come together as planets are about to come into alignment across the solar system and a stain in the sky grows redder.””
