I’ve been a bit out of steam on pop culture lately. On a whim, and maybe as a way to recapture how I used to discover books when I was a kid, I grabbed two books off the shelf at my local library, and jumped into them blind.
Movie Morlocks‘ Kimberly Lindbergs explores Toshiro Mifune’s influence on Westerns, Westerns’ influence on Akira Kurosawa, and Red Sun, a Western directed by Terence Young and starring Toshiro Mifune, Charles Bronson, Alain Delon and Ursula Andress.
For those DIY/artsy types out there, here’s a really thorough look at making your own boardgame prototypes (it’s amazing how much you can do at home with software and simple tools!). Also, Rudy Rucker digs up some conversations with Kurt Gödel from his archives.
