The Gutter’s own Carol shares some initial thoughts on the new action movie, Attack On Paradise (Netherlands / Belgium, 2026), that screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival this week! “Attack on Paradise is a thoroughly satisfying action movie. It embraces the conceits of 1990s and early 2000s action movies that Jason Statham has been the current standard-bearer for. It’s a throwback to fun Hollywood stuff starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Jet Li in his later career. It’s not as polished or well-funded as Hollywood and Hong Kong action movies, but if we’ve learned anything from that era of film it’s that what matters is heart.”
