Actor, dancer, choreographer, director, designer and artist Geoffrey Holder has died. Besides his iconic role as Baron Samedi in Live And Let Die (1973), he directed and designed the costumes for the 1975 stage production of The Wiz, performed as the Metropolitan Opera Ballet’s principal dancer in 1955-6, choreographed pieces for the Holder Dance Company and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, performed on Broadway in numerous roles and received a Guggenheim fellowship for his painting. He had roles in Dr. Dolitttle (1967), Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex (1972), Annie (1982) and Boomerang (1992).   The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and Variety have obituaries.  The Geoffrey & Carmen: A Memoir In Four Movements website has more of Holder’s art.
