At Crime Reads Corinne writes about the Detection Club, ‘fair play’ in mysteries–especially in members’ mysteries. “The sacred oath required of prospective members of the Detection Club demanded, among other things, their adherence to that Golden Age holy of holies, the principle of ‘fair play’ (i.e., presentation of clues in a manner which allows the reader a chance of solving the mystery).
