BBC Archive shares a 1965 report on women’s professional wrestling in Britain and interview two wrestlers, Mitzi Mueller and Naughty Nancy Barton.

“‘These are tough maidens… you can’t fix the floor–that stays hard, routines or no routines.’ Fyfe Robertson reports on a women’s wrestling match between Mitzi Mueller and ‘Naughty’ Nancy Barton, at the Victoria Hall in Halifax. The match is the first ever all-in women’s wrestling match that Halifax has ever seen, and if the Victoria Hall committee get their way, it will be the last.

Fyfe questions Councillor Thomas Enderbury, the Chairman of the hall committee, about what specific objections the committee has to women’s wrestling. He also speaks to some of the spectators in attendance about their thoughts on women wrestling, and finally to Mitzi and Nancy themselves.
